Monthly update

I'm really not one to just drop out of a challenge, but I couldn't find another solution this time than take a break. For family reasons I needed something to wear for a funeral. And even though I wear black quite frequently, the clothes I had were not appropriate for a funeral (I'm not the most conservative person, but I think paying someone the last respect includes dressing appropriately). So, I started my round of the vintage and second-hand shops both in town and online, but couldn't find anything. I might have mentioned in an earlier post, that I have found it hard to find good basic pieces second-hand. Anyway, I was up to the day before the funeral and still had nothing to wear, so I caved in and went to a local department store, which usually boasts good-quality clothes. And I have to say, I have never seen so many clothes made of poly-blend fabrics. Pretty much every item the helpful shop assisstant brought me was made of polyester. And most of them were not my cup of tea... after an hour of trying on dresses, tops and trousers I finally settled on a pair of trousers and a shirt. Both are clothes I might have bought prior to my challenge. And then I was in for another shock when I went to the cash register. I won't go into details but these clothes were expensive, especially considering the fabric. It has strengthened my resolve to stick to second-hand shopping and make more of my clothes myself.
